Small processors and farms that produce and sell food need efficient tools to customise recipes, calculate nutritional values and create labels. These functions are critical to ensuring compliance, informing customers about ingredients and bringing competitive products to market. The daily work of Bio Suisse (free labelling checks for members), FiBL, agricultural colleges (advice), inspection bodies and stakeholders shows that this is a challenge for many direct marketers and agricultural processors. In addition, the requirements are becoming stricter and stricter: from 2021, a nutritional table will also be required for certain agricultural products.
The aim of this project is to develop a comprehensive tool that enables small processors and farms to create recipes, adapt them to different quantities, calculate the nutritional values of their products and generate labels in accordance with the legal (Swiss Organic Farming Ordinance) and Bio Suisse/Demeter requirements. The Label Generator is a response to increasing declaration requirements and is intended as a service for local value creation and direct marketing.
