Organic pear production in Switzerland is growing in terms of area, but the production volume is fluctuating and usually insufficient to meet the market demand. The reasons for the undersupply are manifold.
In this organic pear pre-project, an analysis of the current state of organic pear production is conducted at different levels. Through a comprehensive literature research and a survey along the entire value chain (production, specialists, trade, retailers), insights into the cultivation problems of domestic organic pear production will be gained. After evaluating the data from the surveys and the literature research, the results will be discussed in a workshop. The aim of this workshop is to use the findings from the analysis to define and prioritise topics to be pursued in a follow-up project lasting several years.
