Improving the valorisation of organic dairy calves

Original titleAméliorer la valorisation des veaux laitiers en bio
Abstract

The aim of the "VALOV'BIO" project is to improve the value of organic dairy calves that are not used for herd renewal. In particular, these animals should be reared under organic conditions throughout their lives and at the same time guarantee profitable prices for producers. The resilience of the systems to economic fluctuations is also to be improved.

The project will promote existing concepts such as calf rearing by foster cows and strengthen partnerships between dairy and suckler cow farmers. To achieve this, exchanges of experience and knowledge as well as seamless scientific support will be organised. At the same time, sales markets are to be further developed at a regional and national level in cooperation with economic players and other stakeholders.
