Supporting Agroecological Food Systems in Benin (West Africa)

Abstract

The project "Supporting Agroecological Food Systems in Benin (SAF-B)" aims to promote sustainable, resilient, and equitable food systems in Benin through the adoption of agroecological practices. By empowering smallholder farmers, strengthening their links to local food supply chains, and advocating for sustainable agricultural policies, the project seeks the transition of local food systems to agroecology.

The project builds on the success of the "Dissemination of Agroecological Practices in South Benin (DAPRASB)" project. The project will build the capacity of at least 300 farmers to learn about and adopt agroecological practices and train others in these practices, with a focus on agroecological crop protection, soil fertility management and agroforestry. The project will establish new demonstration plots in different areas of Benin and closely monitor the demonstration plots previously established by the "DAPRASB" project.
