Scaling-up Digital Training Materials for Smallholder Farmers in East Africa

Original titleScaling-up Digital Training Materials for Smallholder Farmers in East Africa
Abstract

Building on the Digital Training Materials Pilot 2020-2022, the dissemination of the tested SMS- and tablet-based training on organic agriculture and value chains will be scaled-up. 15,000 to 30,000 smallholder farmers in East Africa will be reached. In order to reach illiterate people, IVR (interactive voice response) technology is also being tested. Further digital trainings on organic farming will be developed together with the partners Rwanda Organic Agriculture Movement (ROAM) and Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT), as well as technology partners, according to the interests and needs of farmers in Rwanda and Kenya. The focus lies on strengthening the capacities of local partners in the field of digital tools for knowledge dissemination and improving agricultural practices and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in East Africa.
