Conversion from Integrated Production (IP) to organic farming: Long-term effects on the diversity of beneficial arthropods

Abstract

This project, which runs from 2020 to 2023, will investigate how the diversity of arthropods such as carabids, staphylinids and spiders changed after the conversion from IP to organic management. A farm in Aesch, canton of Baselland, converted its management in 1997. For comparison purposes, the diversity of arthropods will be surveyed in neighbouring farms, one IP farm (in Ettingen BL) and another farm that has been under organic management since 1974 (in Oberwil BL). The collected data will give meaningful insights into the topic of insect and arthropod loss.
