In the last months of the Horizon 2020 project OK-Net Ecofeed, a popular factsheet created by FiBL Germany, which describes professional soybean processing technology in Germany and Austria, was translated into English.
Soybeans contain anti-nutritive substances that need to be processed before they can be fed to livestock. Applying relevant and compact processing technology for farms or small enterprises requires special knowledge, and practical experience is not widespread. The factsheet presents the most common technologies available or used in Central Europe to process soybeans into feed. It provides an assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of each technology aimed at farmers and advisors.
The factsheet was translated directly from the German version published in 2014; only the contact information was updated. The factsheet was also adapted and translated by project partners in France, l’Instiut de l’agriculture et de l’alimentation biologiques (ITAB). All language versions, English, German and French, are available on the Organic Farm Knowledge platform.
