This project aims to lay the foundations for organic wheat production in the Virunga region in eastern Congo in order to supply local bakery and biscuit industries with sufficient quantities of quality wheat. FiBL contributes its technical expertise in defining the most suitable cultivation techniques for the specific soil, climate and socio-economic context. In a first phase of this collaboration the most potentially effective methods for developing large-scale, sustainable production of organic wheat through a network of local farmers will be identified.
