Cacao Field Lab Peru

Abstract

The Cacao Field Lab project, a collaborative effort led by the Choba Choba Foundation in partnership with FiBL and CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development), addresses pressing issues facing smallholder cocoa farmers worldwide.

The project's intervention plan is pragmatic and based on the development, validation and dissemination of agroecological solutions. It focuses on the establishment of an applied research and learning center in Peru's Huayabamba Valley, an ideal setting with its diverse agroecology and significant cacao production.

The Cacao Field Lab is a hands-on initiative focused on transforming cacao farming, increasing farmer autonomy and promoting sustainable agriculture. It is a practical step towards a more
sustainable cocoa industry - one that benefits farmers, protects the environment and strengthens the global cocoa supply chain. Through its three-tiered dissemination strategy, it aims to have a lasting impact at the regional, national, Latin American and beyond.
