Inoculating plants with beneficial microorganisms can potentially lead to increased plant growth and improved plant health. However, inoculation suc-cess is highly variable. In a previous project called “Microbiome diagnostics for a sustainable agricul-ture”, funded by the Gebert Rüf Foundation, we performed field experiments where we inoculated maize with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. In this new project, we develop a tool to predict the composi-tion of soil fungal communities based on physico-chemical data.
