The updated publication addresses the adaptability of organic agriculture to changes caused by climate change. The vast diversity and activity of microorganisms contributes to the resilience of organic crops in climatically induced stress situations. Furthermore, organic farming contributes to slowing down climate change. For example, organically farmed fields emit fewer climate-damaging gases than conventional ones. By managing humus, organic farms maintain carbon levels in the soil and can even increase them. The fact sheet also discusses the great potential of reduced tillage, which supports carbon sequestration. The fact sheet is also available in German and has now been translated into French and Hungarian.
