The recent Importer-Exporter Platform held in Izmir, Turkey, adopted a quality declaration that stressed the responsibility for quality assurance of organic products throughout the whole supply chain from the producing countries to the markets of final sales.
German, Swedish and Turkish importing and exporting companies participated in the workshop "Do Organic Sultanas and Figs meet Quality Expectations?" held on 28th and 29th of August in Izmir / Turkey, hosted by the Aegean Exporters Union (EIB).
The workshop aimed at facilitating the communication and understanding among German/Middle European importers and Turkish exporters. The participants greatly appreciated the opportunity for open talks and direct contacts among traders.
Traders from Turkey and Germany conducted a workshop in Malatya this past June that focused on apricots. A similar event will be held from 9th to 12th October 2012 in Ordu on the Black Sea coast, which is a major production area for hazelnuts.
