The region of Alto Beni in Bolivia recently inaugurated one of FiBL’s long-term farming system comparisons in the tropics. The field trial testing cacao in various agroforestry systems compares organic with conventional farming. The Bolivian Minister of Rural Development and Land, Nemesia Achacollo, also took part.
The FiBL research and development projects in the global South have the goal to further develop locally adapted sustainable farming systems.
Further long-term system comparisons being supervised by FiBL in the tropics are in Kenya and India.
