Save’s strong interest in organic farming methods led him to visit FiBL, where Deputy Director Eric Wyss gave him a tour through FiBL’s orchards and laboratories.
A week prior to his visit, Mr. Save was in Germany where he received the “One World Award Lifetime Achievement Award” for being one of the earliest and most influential pioneers of the organic movement. With his impressive 60 years of organic farming experience, he has been able to inspire and motivate three generations of young Indian farmers to take up organic farming. Save exemplifies the power of “farmer to farmer” education and is rightly praised as “the living Gandhi of natural organic farming in India.”
The ONE WORLD AWARD recognizes people who demonstrate that globalization can indeed be more than the maximization of profits at the cost of the majority of the people around the world. The One World Award is supported by organic wholesaler Rapunzel and IFOAM – International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements – the international umbrella organization for the organic movement.
