FiBL session "Sustaining our soils: the role of society and transdisciplinary research" at the Global Soil Week

The Global Soil Week is a knowledge platform for sustainable soil management and responsible land governance worldwide. This year’s Global Soil Week will highlight the importance of land and soil to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the UN designated International Year of Soils. FiBL, together with Royal Haskoning DHV, an international engineering and project management consultancy, is convening the dialogue session "Sustaining our soils: the role of society and transdisciplinary research" on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Soils and land resources are under threat. At the same time, the role of soils and land for climate change, biodiversity, food security and poverty reduction is increasingly acknowledged. However, the way in which soil and land problems are addressed by society is often characterized by separating and fragmenting issues, which are better to be addressed from a holistic perspective.

At this session, representatives from different sectors (science, social movements, policy and economy) and structural levels (global, national, local) will contribute with their experiences to discuss the potentials and limits of, as well as their demands on transdisciplinary processes.
