In the Drôme region of France, droughts are becoming increasingly severe and water availability is decreasing every year. Practices to restore soil quality are therefore essential. Adding organic matter through the application of high quality compost could contribute to a rapid improvement in the quality and longevity of soils, and possibly their resistance and resilience to drought.
However, there is still little production and use of compost by farmers in the area. FiBL France is working in the Drôme Valley to remove various agronomic and technical obstacles in order to guide farmers in the production and use of compost adapted to their systems and constraints.
