Optimisation in organic berry cultivation: applied research, advisory services and networking for sustainable practice development

Abstract

Despite the strong professionalisation of berry cultivation in recent years, there are still many challenges that need to be addressed. The project aims to optimise organic berry cultivation through applied research, advice and networking. The focus is on strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. The project includes on-farm variety testing of strawberries and raspberries, as well as variety evaluation of organic blueberries. In addition, trials are carried out when plant protection problems occur. The data obtained is incorporated into variety recommendations. Another focus is on advising organic producers through publications, the exchange of experience and the organisation of a national symposium.
