Impact study on the implications of the new EU Organic Regulation in Dominican Republic

Abstract

FiBL is conducting a study on the impact of the new EU organic regulation 2018/848 in the Dominican Republic on behalf of COLEAD under the AGRINFO programme, funded by the European Commission. The study will include an analysis of the organic banana and cocoa value chains, as well as other fresh fruits. It will involve value chain mapping, an introductory webinar on the new regulation, interviews with producer groups, exporters, inspection bodies, public authorities, industry associations and NGOs, as well as a cost analysis and a stakeholder workshop. The aim of the analysis is to identify challenges or benefits for the public and private sectors and to assess impacts, mitigation measures and consequences for organic exports. It also aims to develop proposals for appropriate actions to mitigate risks and exploit opportunities.
