Poma nova: monitoring an organic varietal orchard in the canton of Vaud

Original titlePoma nova: suivi d’un verger variétal bio sur le canton de Vaud
Abstract

In order to improve the sustainability of organic orchards, a specific selection of varieties is required that are adapted to short distribution channels in terms of presentation (colour, size) and fruit preservation. At the Marcelin site (Morges, VD), there is an organic orchard whose varieties are currently being renewed. With the support of the national RESO project, promising varieties selected by Agroscope and Poma Culta are being planted. The current project is dedicated to the scientific monitoring of these varieties, in collaboration with national and regional partners. The vitality of the trees, the pressure of various pests and diseases and harvest data are monitored. Annual reports will be written and visits to the variety plots will be organised to disseminate the data from this project.
