FiBL works closely with farmers to promote organic farming. The FarmerScience project encourages farmers' creativity by providing scientific support for their experiments. There is often a lack of controls in trials, which makes the results unreliable. FiBL helps farms to plan and analyse experiments, which benefits both sides. The co-operation enables reliable results and promotes the transfer of knowledge. One challenge is to finance interesting trial ideas in the initial phase, especially if they do not correspond to current doctrine. The development of financing options for pilot projects is crucial here.
