This project aims to promote the practice of agroforestry and to support its adoption in four French-speaking cantons through a participatory approach. The farmers participating in the project will be supported and advised in the establishment or optimisation of an agroforestry system, which will be resilient and adapted to local conditions and to the constraints of each farm. Throughout the project period, through training and practice, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain the system and its functions over time.
In order to ensure the sustainability of the system and the achievement of the project's objectives, a scientific committee is responsible for monitoring the system over 8 years. As a scientific partner of the project, FiBL is responsible for monitoring and documenting the implementation and management of the agroforestry systems of the "bushes and fodder trees" type, as well as the structuring of the poultry and pig runs and the use of ramial fragmented wood as poultry litter.
