Experience exchange and joint assessment to promote organic agriculture in Tunisia and Morocco

Original titleExperience exchange and joint assessment to promote organic agriculture in Tunisia and Morocco
Abstract

In both Tunisia and Morocco, agriculture is a highly relevant sector to boost income and development in rural areas. In this context, organic production is highly promising, due to its advantage to fetch higher prices, safeguard natural resources and its great capacity development potential among producers and farmer groups. In both countries, the organic sector is fairly young, but it has great potential –especially for exports to Europa, but also for the domestic market.

Detailed Description

With its expertise and network, FiBL was interested to (a) exchange information and experiences in regard to the development of the organic sector in these countries, and to (b) explore collaboration opportunities. The expedition helped to deepen the existing contacts with local stakeholders and establish new ones, aiming to develop a stakeholder platform of interested entities to join forces for any future endeavour.
