There is also growth in the need for information on the current state of organic farming in individual counties and worldwide and on current trends and prospects. This information is required in particular by policymakers, associations and market players as a basis for their decisions. For people involved in the media such information is indispensable. FiBL Switzerland processes statistical data on agriculture and on the markets in Switzerland, Europe and internationally.
Since 2008, the global data collection, which results are published in the yearbook "The World of Organic Agriculture", has been financially supported by the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs SECO in collaboration with the International Trade Centre ITC. NürnbergMesse, the organisers of the BioFach organic food fair, has supported the project since 2000.
The World of Organic Agriculture
Every year FiBL publishes the book "The World of Organic Agriculture" together with the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM. The book documents recent developments in global organic agriculture. The book has been published annually since 2000. A central part of the book are the organic agricultural statistics, which are collected annually in the frame of the annual survey on organic agriculture worldwide.
The 17. edition of "The World of Organic Agriculture" can be ordered from the FiBL shop (including a free pdf version).
FiBL also maintains the website www.organic-world.net.
In 2014 FiBL published the book "Organic in Europe" together with IFOAM and other partners for the first time. It`s available in English and German and can be orderes from the FiBL shop as well.
