Evaluation of the impact of Fermented Forest Litter (LiFoFer) on the composting process

Titolo del progetto in lingua originaleEvaluation de l’impact de la Litière Forestière Fermentée (LiFoFer) sur le processus de compostage
Abstract

Fermented Forest Litter (LiFoFer) is the result of an innovative technique for cultivating endogenous microorganisms present in natural forest environments. This product, widely used in Latin America, is said to help revitalize the life of agricultural soils and stimulate the natural defences of plants. Because of their natural origin, LiFoFer microorganisms could also have an impact on the decomposition of organic matter during composting.

This project aims to determine whether the application of LiFoFer improves the composting process and, if so, to identify the most beneficial period of application of LiFoFer during the process. During this experiment, general composting parameters and enzyme activity will be monitored to identify possible modifications related to the application of LiFoFer. The final quality of the composts produced will also be evaluated.
